Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You anime has revealed a new main PV trailer and confirmed its TV debut in Japan for July 9, 2026.
Ahead of the TV premiere, ABEMA has already begun streaming a special early-release version of the series. The first six television episodes have been divided into twelve approximately 10-minute mini-episodes and are currently available as an advance preview. Crunchyroll is also streaming the mini-episode worldwide.
The mini-episodes feature special OP and ED videos, featuring “Kuzuri Nen” by Zutomayo as the opening and “NIGHT DANCER” by imase as the ending. The new trailer features the main opening song “Ichijiku Kemuri” by ZUTOMAYO, and you can hear a preview below.
Studio Asahi Production is in charge of the animation, with Tadato Suzuki and Aoi Mori as directors, Mio Inoue in charge of the series composition, Yasuka Otaki as the character designer, and Shin Kono and Sayaka Aoki composing the music. The voice cast includes:

- Seena Hoshiki as Yamada / Tamaya
- Shinya Takahashi as Suzuki
- Toa Yukinari as Goto
- Megumi Toyoguchi as Ono
- Rikuya Yasuda as Obata

Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You anime is based on a manga series by Jinushi. It first started as a webcomic published on Twitter in March 2022, while Square Enix’s Monthly Big Gangan magazine serialized it in August 2022. They describe the story:
An overworked salaryman and a mischievous cashier with a dual personality form an unexpected bond in this sweet-and-sour comedy!At age forty-five, office worker Sasaki has had enough of the corporate grind. His only solace is smoking-and the friendly smile of supermarket cashier Yamada. When Sasaki can’t find Yamada after a particularly trying day, a striking woman invites him to smoke with her. The despondent man thinks he’s made a new smoking buddy in the cool, teasing Tayama, but Sasaki doesn’t realize he already knows her!
