The Honor Student at Magic High School, upcoming anime by studio CONNECT, is set to begin airing on July 3rd. The story is a spin-off to the highly popular The Irregular at Magic High School series.
The official website for the anime announced the premiere date, alongside OP and ED information. Sangatsu no Phantasia is performing the OP, which is titled “101”. The unit previously worked on popular anime titles such as Slow Start and Kiznaiver. Additionally, Philosophy no Dance is singing “Double Standard” which will serve as anime’s ending theme.
Hideki Tachibana (Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? 3) is directing the anime. Taku Iwasaki is composing the OST, while Takao Sano and Ryosuke Yamamoto are in charge of character designs.
The story is centered around Miyuki Shiba (voiced by Saori Hayami). Miyuki was one of the protagonists in The Irregular at Magic High School as well. In addition to Hayami, Yuiko Tatsumi, and Sora Amamiya also voice characters – Shizuku Kitayama and Honoka Mitsui respectively.
Studio CONNECT, known for its work on Strike the Blood franchise and ORESUKI, is producing the series.
The Honor Student at Magic High School
The Honor Student at Magic High School is a manga by Tsutomu Sato and Yu Mori. It originally started publishing in 2012 and ended in 2020, after 78 chapters. Additionally, a sequel manga started publication in 2021.
Yen Press, the English licensor, describes the story as:
A century has passed since magic–true magic, the stuff of legends–has returned to the world. It is spring, the season of new beginnings, and a new class of students is about to begin their studies at the First National Magic University Affiliated High School, nickname: First High. A manga spin-off of the immensely popular light novel series The Irregular at Magic High School, The Honor Student at Magic High School follows the events of the original series as seen through the eyes of Miyuki Shiba, Tatsuya’s sister. The life of an honor student comes with a lot of expectations…and unexpected hidden feelings?!
