My Hero Academia Episode 106: Drastic Signs of Improvement

My Hero Academia Episode 106 aired on Saturday and it gave fans a good dose of action, Bakugo yelling at everyone, and more development for the Todoroki household. Usually, I have one heartfelt moment in these articles. But this time there are two that should be talked about. Spoilers ahead!

Another New Villain We’ll Forget About

While the episode was enjoyable, it gives us another forgettable villain. Much like episode 104, we’re introduced to a new villain named Ending. He has a long history of obsession with Endeavor. So much, in fact, that he wants Endeavor to be the one to end his life.

So he decides to take Natsuo hostage. Ending says a few words about Toya to try and bring out the old Endeavor. But in the end, Shoto, Bakugo, and Deku make quick work of Ending and are able to rescue Natsuo.

Bakugo and Deku Show Tremendous Progression

While the fight was short-lived, Deku and Bakugo surprised us all. Ending sends a bunch of cars flying into the air with civilians in them. Then Deku rescues the civilians by controlling Blackwhip at just the perfect level of power. He gently puts the cars down and makes sure everyone is okay.

Meanwhile, Bakugo shows off his new and improved level of speed by darting in front of a moving train to save Natsuo at the last second. Even Endeavor ends up realizing that they have progressed drastically in such a small amount of time.

Heartfelt Moment #1

At the end of the fight, Endeavor and Natsuo have a heart-to-heart conversation that talks about their relationship. Natsu reiterates that he still can’t forgive Endeavor for the things he has done. But Endeavor lets Natsuo know that he doesn’t want his forgiveness. On the contrary, Endeavor just wants to atone for his past sins.

The scene flashbacks to episode 105 when Deku tells Shoto that he’s a kind person and that he’s working to forgive Endeavor. It cuts back to Endeavor in the present time telling Natsuo that he, too, is also a kind person. But he lets him know that he’s kind in his own way, especially for helping Fuyumi.

Heartfelt Moment #2

After the credits, Endeavor, Fuyumi, and Natsuo have a serious conversation about the family. Endeavor is moving the family to their own home that’s more accessible for Fuyumi and Rei. He’s doing this for Rei’s sake so she has a more welcoming home when she is discharged from the hospital.

He talks about his dream about seeing his family enjoying themselves at dinner without him again. And while he doesn’t necessarily say what he’s going to do, it seems that part of his atonement is making sure his family is happy, even if it means being without him. However, Natsuo and Fuyumi didn’t say much after he told them. So who knows? Maybe they’ll stay in the same house and help Endeavor atone.
