Netflix has listed the Violet Evergarden: the Movie anime film for an October 13 release. You can set the reminder in the ‘Coming Soon’ section on their website and app, and it will premiere globally.
The film by Kyoto Animation had immense success at the Japanese Box Office, and it got its Blu-ray release in the country back in August. You can see the key visual below (the date is for the Japanese release in 2020):
The Violet Evergarden movie takes place immediately after the TV anime series, which is also available on Netflix. For one reference, the film made over 2 billion yet within the first 3 months in Japan. Some of its awards included the TAAF 2021 Anime of the Year Award and the Kyoto Digital Amusement Award.
The film opened in Japanese theatres on September 18, 2020, and it was in the top 10 grossing films for 9 consecutive weeks. This is also the first new anime film (not compilation) to be converted to the HDR Dolby Vision. The film was re-released at seven Dolby Cinema locations in Japan starting on November 13, 2020. Several years have passed since the end of the Great War. As the radio tower in Leidenschaftlich continues to be built, telephones will soon become more relevant, causing a decrease in demand for “Auto Memory Dolls.” Even so, Violet Evergarden continues to gain fame after her consistent success at writing letters. However, sometimes the only thing you crave for is the one thing that doesn’t appear. Violet Evergarden: The Movie follows Violet as she continues to understand the concept of emotions and the meaning of love. At the same time, she pursues a ray of hope that the man who once told her, “I love you,” can still be alive even after the many years that have passed.
