Mieruko-chan Episode 2: Don't Judge a Book by its Cover

The ghosts and monsters were really everywhere in episode 2 of Mieruko-chan. Following the events in the previous episode, it seems that Miko can handle seeing ghosts. Despite being scared of them on the inside, her actions are still stoic, which makes for an interesting second episode, especially since many ghosts appeared.

Warning: Might Contain Spoilers!

It seems that seeing ghost stories on TV is normal in the lives of some people in Mieruko-chan. Of course, it is also a given that there might be some scenes when those characters are talking about it. Since Miko can see ghosts, hearing those kinds of stories is a bit uncomfortable for her. However, she needs to act normal. Seeing so many ghosts in a day when you’re still not used to it is hard. Especially when you’re aware that they are doing unpleasant things to people who can’t see or feel them. I have a feeling that this will be Miko’s daily life.

My Theory

Seeing the behaviors of the ghosts in episode 2 of Mieruko-chan, I have come up with a theory. There was a ghost in this episode that clung to certain people based on their body type. When it was about to touch Miko’s body, it clung to a newly-arrived woman with a more mature physique and the ghost seems happy. Another one followed a kitten. All of this makes me believe that the actions of the ghosts heavily depend on who they were while they were alive. Their memories have an impact on their actions after they become ghosts.

Don’t Judge a Book by its Cover

The ending of Mieruko-chan episode 2 was very warm and touching. Due to various circumstances, Hana bumps into a scary-looking man with so many scars on his face while she is holding a kitten. Of course, she was very scared to the point that she had an irrational thought. Then, a handsome guy appeared in front of Miko and Hana, asking if he could have the cat but Miko became furious and instantly declined his request. It seems that she can see a very unpleasant aura surrounding the nice-looking guy. When he left, the ghost beside them also followed him. Then, Miko gave the cat to the scary-looking guy, and she told Hana to don’t judge the book by its cover.

Before the episode ends, the connection of the man to cats was revealed and it was very touching. If the scene also moved your heart, you can vote for the anime on our weekly poll. Episode 3 will air on October 17, and you can watch it on Funimation.

A normal girl was living a normal life-until she wasn’t.
One day, she could see…everything. What’s a girl to do when hideous monsters appear no matter which way she turns?
And on top of that, nobody else can see them!Obviously, there’s only one thing that makes sense-ignore them.
Kinda hard to put theory into practice, though, whenthe ghosts know she’s watching…
