The upcoming series A Couple of Cuckoos has announced a new cast member, along with a new trailer and visual. Konomi Kohara (Chika Fujiwara) will join the cast as Sachi Umino. The anime series will air in 2022.

Studios Synergy SP and Shin-Ei Animation will produce the anime. Meanwhile, Hiroaki Akagi (Those Snow White Notes) and Yoshiyuki Shirahata (episode director for Great Pretender) are directing the series. Aya Takano (Teasing Master Takagi-san) handles the character design and Yashiro Nakanishi (Kaguya-sama: Love is War) for the composition.
Previously announced cast members of A Couple of Cuckoos include Kaito Ishikawa (Sakuta Azusagawa), Akari Kitou (Tsukasa Yuzaki), and Nao Touyama (Chitoge Kirisaki).
The anime is based on a rom-com harem manga by Miki Yoshikawa. The manga started serialization in Weekly Shonen Magazine in 2020 and is currently has 9 volumes with the latest one out today. Kodansha is publishing the manga in English. A light novel adaptation is also ongoing.
The story follows 16-year-old Nagi Umino. Nagi is a great student, but with a secret – he was accidentally switched at birth. One day he goes to meet his birth parents for dinner, and he accidentally meets Erika. Erika is loud and determined to convince Nagi to play her fake boyfriend since she doesn’t want to marry. However, once he makes it to dinner he realizes that his parents have an unusual plan. They want to fix the hospital’s mistake by getting him to marry the girl his birth parents raised. But, the girl turns out to be Erika and a chaotic situation ensues.
