In case you aren’t already aware, the official website for My Dress-Up Darling launches a unique weekly poll where Japanese viewers click on a “Dododo” (Japanese onomatopoeia for heart-throbbing) button whenever their heartbeat rises while watching an episode. The live data is used to determine which scenes earned the most heartbeats each week. In episode 9 titled “A Lot Happened After I Saw That Photo“, the winner was Shinju’s big cosplay reveal scene at the end. As you can see below, her take on Soma Onii-chan took the top score by a mile:

Ever since her sister, the famous Juju-sama, began cosplaying, Shinju has been secretly dying to try it. She hesitated for a long time due to a common struggle among cosplayers: not having the same physical build as your favorite character. In episode 9, Gojo helps her overcome this obstacle, and not only is their group amazed by the result, fans fell in love with her take on Soma Onii-chan as well.
My Dress-Up Darling is based on a romance manga by Shinichi Fukuda, currently serialized by Square Enix. The anime adaptation is animated by studio CloverWorks, with Crunchyroll and Funimation streaming it. Crunchyroll describes the plot as:
Wakana Gojo is a high school boy who wants to become a kashirashi–a master craftsman who makes traditional Japanese Hina dolls. Though he’s gung-ho about the craft, he knows nothing about the latest trends, and has a hard time fitting in with his class. The popular kids–especially one girl, Marin Kitagawa–seem like they live in a completely different world.
