Play It Cool, Guys Anime Adaptation Set for October 2022 Release

Slice-of-life comedy series Play It Cool, Guys is getting an anime adaptation that is set to air in October of 2022. A teaser trailer and a visual have been revealed as a way to introduce the main characters. Studio Pierrot is animating the series.

Kon Chiaki is directing the anime, while Eri Taguchi is doing character designs. Makoto Uezu is in charge of series composition. Masato Nakayama is composing music.

The voice cast was also revealed and includes:

  • Koki Uchiyama as Shun Futami
  • Chiaki Kobayashi as Hayate Ichikura
  • Shoya Chiba as Soma Shiki
  • Yuichiro Umehara as Takayuki Mima

Play It Cool, Guys (Cool Doji Danshi) anime is based on a manga by Kokone Nata. The manga has been serialized since 2018. Yen Press licensed it in English and describes the plot as:
Enter: a group of cool guys who seem like they’ve got that unapproachable swag. But look closer and you’ll find a bunch of dorks who’ve gotten the act down pat. So sit back, grab some popcorn, and enjoy watching these clumsy dudes try to look cool all day, every day.

The mangaka revealed a commemorative visual, along with a comment stating that they “look forward to seeing the characters move” and that they “hope many people will learn about the work”:
