New chapters of Hunter x Hunter are set to release on October 23 with the series officially continuing serialization with Issue #47 in Weekly Shonen Jump. The official return of the hit manga series came after creator Yoshihiro Togashi hinted at its return back on May 24 on his new Twitter account. Shonen Jump also released all of the current 390 chapters of Hunter x Hunter on their mobile app which are currently available for all members to read. The cover for volume 37 was also revealed as part of the announcement.
A spokeswoman for Shueisha confirmed that the Twitter account teasing the series return was Togashi’s official account. One Punch Man illustrator, Yusuke Murata, also confirmed the account’s authenticity by quoting the tweet “the man himself” back in May.
This will be the first chapter release for the Hunter x Hunter manga since the series went on hiatus almost four years ago. The news trended worldwide on Twitter and Togashi even garnered 1.27 million followers within the first 24 hours of being on the social media site. His current 3+ million followers are the most among all manga authors with My Hero Academia creator Kohei Horikoshi in second with 2.1 million.
Hunter x Hunter began serialization in 1998 in Weekly Shonen Jump and has since released a total of 36 volumes. Since its serialization, the series has gone on hiatus on seven different occasions, more recently a hiatus that started back in November 2018 that ended earlier this year, its longest one to date. Hunter x Hunter is one of the most successful manga series of all time with over 84 million copies in circulation as of October 2022.
