The hype for the anime adaptation of Solo Leveling is showing the huge anticipation fans have had for years, and the official anime announcement trailer has already exceeded 1 million views on YouTube less than a day since release. The original Solo Leveling web-novel by Chugong was first serialized in 2016 and ended in 2018 with a total of 270 chapters compiled into 14 volumes. The webtoon adaptation by DUBU (Redice Studio) ran for 179 episodes and is available in English on Webnovel, Tappytoon, PocketComics, Tapas and Yen Press. Yen Press describes the story:
