Mushoku Tensei: Isekai Ittara Honki Dasu (Jobless Reincarnation: I Will Seriously Try If I Go To Another World) by Rifujin na Magonote first released on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō (Let’s Become a Novelist) platform from 2012 to 2015. Only a year after it started, they announced that Mushoku Tensei would get its print release on Media Factory’s MF Books imprint with illustrations by Pixiv user Shirotaka. Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the light novels in English, and they describe the story:
Kicked out by his family and wandering the streets, an unemployed 34-year-old shut-in thinks he’s hit rock-bottom—just as he’s hit and killed by a speeding truck! Awakening to find himself reborn as an infant in a world of swords and sorcery, but with the memories of his first life intact, Rudeus Greyrat is determined not to repeat his past mistakes. He’s going to make the most of this reincarnation as he sets off on the adventure of a second lifetime!

The franchise also received an anime by Studio Bind, which was even founded mainly to produce the adaptation. The first season ran for 2 cours for a total of 23 episodes. Cour 1 was voted as the best new anime of Winter 2021, only behind Attack of Titan. Only 2 seasons later, cour 2 was then voted the Fall 2021 anime of the season. Crunchyroll is streaming the anime, and season 2 is set to begin in 2023.
