The Demon Lord 2099 light novel by Daigo Murasaki is receiving an anime adaptation. This was announced at AnimeJapan 2023, where a teaser visual depicting the main character Veltol Velvet Velsvalt against a cyberpunk city background was released.
The official website for the anime project describes the synopsis as:
The year 2099 of the unified calendar – Shinjuku City.
In this futuristic city that has achieved ultimate development, the legendary Demon King Veltol has reigned.
The glorious prosperity of the giant city-state and the horrific darkness hidden behind
To rule the new world, the Demon King moves into the future!
The Demon Lord 2099 light novel was written by Daigo Murasaki and illustrated by Kureta. It was published by Fujimi Shobo under its Fujimi Fantasia Bunko imprint in January 2021. It then received a manga adaptation by Kiiro Akashiro which began serialization in Kadokawa Shoten’s Shonen Ace Plus in November 2021.
Yen Press has licensed the novel in English, describing the first volume as:
