The ongoing fantasy shonen series Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End will be getting 5 one-shot chapters published by different authors ahead of the anime’s release later this year. Shogakukan’s Sunday Webry website announced that Tsukasa Abe and Kanehito Yamada’s award-winning series would be receiving five spinoff manga, with a new one-shot released daily from May 22 to May 26.
The first spinoff, entitled “Chubo no Frieren” (Frieren of the Kitchen) launched on Monday and is penned by Kassan. The chapter tells how Frieren made the delicious and oversized Hamburg steak for Stark’s birthday in 26th chaper of the manga.
The second one-shot, “The Adventures of Brave Himmel” by Ren Miura, was released on Tuesday, and details the backstory of fake-warrior-turned-real-hero, Himmel, and the Hero Party’s priest Heiter.
The third spinoff, released Wednesday, is penned by Jona and entitled “Frieren Wants to Learn About Humans.” This light-hearted comedy spinoff sees Frieren attempting to master the challenging Japanese toy, the kendama.
The fourth spinoff, “Himmel’s Travel Diary” by Kazumi Yamaguchi, is due for release on May 25 and follows Himmel and Frieren on an unexpectedly weird and fun journey.
The final one-shot will be released on May 26 and is penned by Soichi Igarashi, an Effort Award Winner from Shonen Jump’s Garyokin Pro 2021 contest. The spinoff is entitled “Frieren’s Detour” and follows Frieren as she navigates a dungeon full of traps and mimics after defeating the Demon King.
