Ado’s official X/Twitter account announced that her upcoming cover album will be available starting on December 13th, 2023. The album is her first cover album and will feature a total of 10 songs that received the most requests through voting, including Vocaloid and J-Pop songs. Pre-orders are open, and the limited Edition includes an acrylic stand in the shape of Ado in the cover art and a sticker sheet with designs inspired by the songs on the album.
To prepare for this release, Ado will release a cover of “Unravel” by TK from Ling Tosite Shigure on November 15th, 2023. The song will be included in the upcoming cover album. The song was chosen among the requests from the public for Vocaloid and J-Pop songs they would like Ado to sing and was also performed during her nationwide hall and arena tour “Mars” held this summer.
Along with the decision to release the song, a teaser video showing a part of the soundtrack has been released. The full-length soundtrack was premiered on the Nippon Broadcasting System’s “Ado’s All Night Nippon” broadcast late at night on November 13, while the music video will premiered at 8 p.m. JST on November 15.
Ado will also appear on the “74th NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen” on December 31, 2023. NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen is an annual New Year’s Eve television special produced by Japanese public broadcaster NHK. It is broadcast live simultaneously on television and radio, nationally and internationally by the NHK network and by some overseas (mainly cable) broadcasters who buy the program. The show ends shortly before midnight.
Ado is a Japanese singer who made her debut in 2020, at the age of 17. Her debut single “Ussewa” peaked at number 1 on Billboard Japan Hot 100, Oricon Digital Singles Chart, and the Oricon Streaming Chart. The music video for Ussewa went viral and at the time of writing, it has accumulated over 296 million views. Since then, Ado released her first album Kyougen in January 2022 and performed as Uta in the One Piece Film Red and Sountrack. Her most recent song is the opening for the second season of Spy x Family.
Ado’s “New Genesis,” which was used as the theme song for the anime film One Piece Film: Red, topped Apple Music’s Global Top 100 charts. She recently announced that she will be doing a world tour for the first time, which will hopefully include songs from her cover album.
