The novel, with illustrations by Noizi Ito, was first serialized under Shinchosha’s Shincho Bunko nex imprint from September 2014 to August 2022 with 13 volumes. The Ameku Takao no Suiri Karte series was moved to Jitsugyo no Nihon Sha’s Jitsugyo no Nihon Sha Bunko imprint in October 2023. The 13 volumes have been re-published with three more dropping on April 5. The series also got a manga adaptation with art by Hiroki Ohara. Shinchosha published the series in its Monthly Comic @ Bunch magazine from April 2016 to March 2018.

The series follows the story of Ameku Takao, a genius doctor who is tasked with investigating the shocking truth behind a “mysterious” disease plaguing the Tenikai General Hospital’s general diagnostic department. During these investigations, it has been observed that there were multiple “murders” and “mysteries” in the wards that even government authorities can’t explain.
