Attack on Titan's Volume 35 Is Now Out

The much-anticipated Attack on Titan Volume 35 (aka the Bad Boy one-shot manga focusing on Levi’s childhood) is now out, as part of the FLY art book. The 200-page art book features various full-color illustrations, including new art for the final chapter, and 18 new pages of content which make Volume 35.

This is the second story dedicated to Levi: he is also the protagonist of a two-episode OVA titled A Choice With No Regrets which explores his youth and beginning in Survey Corps. In Bad Boy, the story is set after the main events of Attack on Titan and Levi tells Gabi and Falco about his mother and childhood.

The art book was announced last October as a made-to-order release. The book, in B4 format, costs 22,000 JPY (around 138 USD). It comes bundled with Mikasa’s scarf (black, as the one in the manga) and Eren’s key.

Attack on Titan manga series by Hajime Isayama was serialized in Kodansha’s Bessatsu Shonen Magazine from 2009 to 2021. The manga ended in April of 2021 after 139 chapters, which were compiled into 34 volumes. The final, 34th volume came out in June 2021. Manga gathered a huge fan following from all over the world, partly thanks to the successful anime adaptation that ran from 2012 to 2023.

Isayama previously spoke about the ending of his hit series and explained that he was concerned about the reception, which was mixed, as he was always very critical of himself. Some changes were made to the ending of the anime adaptation to reflect this: these included more in-depth explanations of the characters’ actions and motivations.

Isayama is currently working on a one-shot manga with Yuki Kaji, who voiced Eren in the Attack on Titan anime. The manga, titled “Soyogi Fractal,” aims to celebrate 20 years of Kaji’s debut as a voice actor. Kaji is writing the story, while Isayama is in charge of the storyboard and some of the art.
