Beta and Gamma are the latest The Eminence in Shadow characters to receive a character PV. The two are voiced by Minori Inase and Suzuko Mimori, respectively. The anime is set to begin airing this October and will be animated by studio Nexus.
The Eminence in Shadow previously revealed a character trailer for Alpha, Shadow Garden’s second in command. Asami Seto voices Alpha, and the main cast also includes:
- Seichiro Yamashita as Cid Kageno/Shadow
- Kana Hanazawa as Alexia Midgar
- Yoko Hikasa as Iris Midgar
- Fairouz Ai as Delta
- Hisako Kanemoto as Epsilon
- Reina Kondo as Eta
- Ayaka Asai as Zeta
Both Beta and Gamma are Shadow Garden members and are supporting characters in The Eminence of Shadow story. Beta is a 15-year-old elf, who goes by Natsume when not working. Gamma is described as an elegant and dignified lady, who i actually quite clumsy.
The anime is based on a light novel written by Daisuke Aizawa and illustrated by Touzai. Kazuya Nakanishi (character designer on Darwin’s Game) is directing the anime. Makoto Iino (Demon Lord, Retry) is doing character designs, while Kanichi Kato is in charge of series composition.
The light novel started serialization in 2017 and also has manga and 4-koma adaptations going. Yen Press licensed the light novel and describes the plot as:
Even in his past life, Cid’s dream wasn’t to become a protagonist or a final boss. He’d rather lie low as a minor character until it’s prime time to reveal he’s a mastermind…or at least, do the next best thing-pretend to be one! And now that he’s been reborn into another world, he’s ready to set the perfect conditions to live out his dreams to the fullest. Armed with his overactive imagination, Cid jokingly recruits members to his organization and makes up a whole backstory about an evil cult that they need to take down. Well, as luck would have it, these imaginary adversaries turn out to be the real deal-and everyone knows the truth but him!
