Speaking to Anime Corner at this year’s Anime Expo, producer Ryoya Arisawa hinted at a more refined animation experience: ” After going through TV and theater, I think we have created a more refined and cooler visual presentation, kind of like a culmination. Of course, the content of the matches is important, but I hope everyone also sees the evolution of the direction. As I mentioned before, during the first season we were trying to meet deadlines and try to get it on time for air, but this time we got the hang of it and we are trying to bring something new to the table.”

Crunchyroll is streaming the first season of the Blue Lock anime and has already confirmed streaming of the second season this fall. The streaming platform describes the plot:
Japan’s desire for World Cup glory leads the Japanese Football Association to launch a new rigorous training program to find the national team’s next striker. Three hundred high school players are pitted against each other for the position, but only one will come out on top. Who among them will be the striker to usher in a new era of Japanese soccer?

The prequel Blue Lock: Episode Nagi movie premiered worldwide this summer. The movie will begin streaming on Prime Video in Japan on September 1.
