Season 2 of Castlevania: Nocturne is officially in the works, as announced by Netflix earlier today. The series premiered on the streaming platform on September 28. There are a total of 8 episodes, focusing on Richter Belmont, the descendant of Trevor Belmont from the original Castlevania animated series. A teaser trailer announcing the sequel is now available:
The new project was announced after the finale of the original series and soon it was revealed that it would follow Richter. Teaser visuals for characters such as Annette and Marie. DR Movie (The Rising of the Shield Hero 2) was in charge of the animation, with Powerhouse Animation, Project 51 Productions, and Frederator Studios on the production (these companies also worked on the original series). Sam and Adam Deats directed the series. The main cast includes:
- Kazuki Ura/Edward Bluemel as Richter Belmont
- Shion Wakayam/Pixie Davis as Marie Renard
- Asuna Tomari/Thuso Mbedu as Annette
The showrunner is Kevin Kolder, while Clive Bradley is listed as a creator and writer. Project 51 Productions and Powerhouse Animation will be producing the series, which Netflix refers to as anime, although the staff or studios involved are not from Japan. The work is based on Konami’s Castlevania games, the first of which was published in 1986. Castlevania: Nocturne follows Richter, a descendant of the Belmont family. As a game character, Richter appeared in Symphony of Night and Blood of Rondo games from the Castlevania series.
The first Netflix Castlevania animated series told the story of Trevor Belmont and his companions Alucard and Sypha Belandes. The trio fought Dracula in the first two seasons, and in the later seasons, the vampires who threatened humanity.
