The opening theme song for the Black Butler: The Green Witch Arc will be performed by Cö shu Nie and feature HYDE. This will be the first collaboration between the artists, with the anime set to premiere in April this year.
The song’s title is “MAISIE,” and it was written by HYDE, Miku Nakamura (from Cö shu Nie) and hico. You can see the photos of the artists and their comments below.
I am incredibly honored to have been invited to collaborate on such a legendary project as Black Butler, alongside HYDE. I worried a bit about whether I’d ‘get scolded’ as I let myself run wild while expanding upon the ideas and concepts HYDE sent me. I’ve read the manga countless times, and it’s a work that I personally feel deeply attached to, so I hope fans will enjoy the music in the anime as well. I can’t thank everyone involved enough for this opportunity, and I’m so excited for everyone to hear the song. Let’s watch it live together!”

I’m honored to be involved in one of my favorite works. Since it’s the theme song for a popular anime, I wondered if I could do it well, but when I saw the reference materials from the Black Butler team, I felt reassured. The materials showcased a world that had none of the mass-market appeal and all of the aesthetic I love (laughs). I told them, ‘Let me create a world true to the ‘Black Butler’ vibe.’ Reading the Gothic horror story of ‘The Green Witch’ multiple times helped me bring Ciel’s will and Sullivan’s fate to life musically. Miku Nakamura’s brilliant arrangement turned it into a truly wonderful song. I’m looking forward to seeing how the visuals will match the opening sequence. I hope Black Butler fans will enjoy it!
