You can read the official statement below:
At Crunchyroll, we prioritize creating a safe and respectful community environment. To maintain this standard, we are hiding all existing user-generated content, including comments and reviews, across all our platforms and experiences.
We’re always striving to enhance the user experience for our fans, including how they connect over the content they love. We encourage fans to share comments and connect with other fans on our social media channels. The user ratings system will, however, remain allowing you to express your opinions through star ratings.
This is coming shortly after a viral X post about Twilight out of Focus, where a user highlighted certain comments on the first episode. Additionally, there have been multiple posts criticizing the translations of My Deer Friend Nokotan, which some users claim were generated by AI. It’s unclear whether these directly affected the decision or if it had been previously planned.
