The Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime from studio Trigger has released its opening sequence. The opening song is titled “This Fffire” and will be performed by the Scottish rock band Franz Ferdinand. They are composed of members Alex Kapranos, Bob Hardy, Julian Corrie, Dino Bardot, and Audrey Tait.
The band is signed with UK-based record label Domino Recording Company, and their latest album “Hits to the Head” was released in March this year. Other albums Franz Ferdinand produced include the self-titled “Franz Ferdinand” (2004), “You Could Have It So Much Better” (2005), and “Always Ascending” (2018). Song “Take Me Out“, released in January 2004, has been ranked 327 in Rolling Stone’s “500 Greatest Songs of All Time“. They also sang the ending theme for the 2005 anime series Paradise Kiss with the song “Do You Want To?“.
The Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime will premiere in September this year on Netflix, as confirmed during the Netflix Geeked Week 2022. A trailer and key visual were released at the time:

The anime series is based on the video game Cyberpunk 2077 made by CD Projekt Red and was released in December 2020. The official website for the anime series describes the plot as:
CYBERPUNK: EDGERUNNERS tells a standalone, 10-episode story about a street kid trying to survive in a technology and body modification-obsessed city of the future. Having everything to lose, he chooses to stay alive by becoming an edgerunner—a mercenary outlaw also known as a cyberpunk.
