The Danmachi season 5 announcement is part of the Danmachi 10th anniversary project, which saw a new book every month for thirteen months, breaking the continuous publication record for a single series that Nisio Isin’s Katanagatari formerly held. Readers of the Sword Oratoria light novel may take an interest in the future of the series following Omori’s latest comments, with the author revealing in October that the focus of the Sword Oratoria light novel will shift from Ais Wallenstein to another character.

The Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? light novel series debuted in SB Creative’s GA Bunko imprint in January 2013. In Omori’s recent interview, he comments that it would be a disservice to not have Ais’ backstory revealed in the main story, and added that Danmachi’s ending was already planned out even before he submitted his story for the GA Bunko award in 2012. The anime was animated by J.C.Staff and first premiered in April 2015. The series has spanned 59 episodes and a movie.

Yen Press licensed the series in English and describes the plot as:
Adventurer Bell Cranell’s life changed forever when he met the goddess Hestia, becoming the first member of her familia. Since then, he’s gone on many adventures, growing much stronger in the process. But when he steps foot into Orario’s pleasure quarter, where Ishtar Familia reigns supreme, he soon finds himself in way over his head… With enemies all around him, he’ll need the help of a beautiful, fox-eared courtesan if he’s to have any hope of making it back home!
