Dark Gathering Season 2 revealed the first in a series of new “horror visuals,” along with confirming a 2027 release date. Studio OLM was previously confirmed to be returning to animate, with Hiroshi Ikehata as director. Shigeru Murakoshi is back to handle the series composition, along with Yuri Ichinose as character designer. OLM is producing the animation.
The first season of the TV anime aired from July to December 2023. Season 2 will move the story to Kyoto, adapting the manga starting with Chapter 34 “Journey to the Capital” from Volume 9.
The main cast will also reprise their roles:
- Nobunaga Shimazaki as Keitarоo Gentоoga
- Yu Sasahara as Yayoi Hоzuki
- Kana Hanazawa as Eiko Hozuki
- Rina Kawaguchi as Ai Kamiyo
Based on the manga by Kenichi Kondo, Dark Gathering is an occult horror series following Keitaro Gentoga, a university student with a spiritual medium constitution. While working as a private tutor, he meets Yayoi Hozuki, a young girl with mysterious eyes. The first season aired from July to December 2023 over two consecutive-cours. HIDIVE is streaming the first season of the anime, describing the story:
After a devastating encounter with a restless spirit, ghost-fearing psychic Keitaro Gentoga became a shut-in to avoid additional spectral catastrophes. But no man is a haunted island, and Keitaro eventually reintegrates with society by getting a part-time job as a tutor to the child prodigy Yayoi Houzuki. Yayoi isn’t just an academic genius, though. She’s a talented psychic medium hell-bent on finding the malevolent spirit behind her mother’s disappearance, and she’s gravely determined to drag Keitaro into her terrifying world of grotesque supernatural phenomenon.
