Date a Live V will premiere on April 10, 2024, the day Shido met Tohka, and the preview images for the episode have been revealed on the franchise’s official website. Shido will now tell the spirits about the things Kurumi did for him and he will also search for his lost memories to find out who Mio Takamiya, The Spirit of Origin, was in the past. Date a Live V Episode 1 title is “Signs of the Start of War”. Episode 1 will air on Crunchyroll and you can also watch the whole series on their platform. Furthermore, Muse Asia recently acquired the license for Date a Live V, so the episode will be also available on their YouTube channel. It has not yet been announced if the other seasons will also be soon uploaded on the platform. Jun Nakagawa is directing the series at studio GEEKTOYS.
The first season of the anime aired in 2013 under studio AIC+. Production IMS animated the second season in 2014 and also worked on the anime film, Date a Live: Mayuri Judgment. The franchise returned in 2019 with season 3, and it was animated by J.C. Staff. Keitaro Motonaga directed all of it. In 2020, Two consecutive movies titled, Date a Bullet: Dead or Bullet and Date a Bullet: Nightmare or Queen had a theatrical screening. Season 4 aired in 2022. Studio GEEKTOYS animated all of it with Jun Nakagawa as the director.
The anime is based on Koshi Tachibana’s Date a Live light novel series. Fujimi Shobo published it with Tsunako’s illustrations from 2011 to 2020, and it has a total of 22 volumes in circulation. Yen Press is publishing the original Date a Live light novel series in English and describes the plot as:
April 10. The first day of school. Shido Itsuka is rudely awoken by his personal alarm clock—his little sister. It’s shaping up to be another typical day…well, as typical as it gets on a planet plagued by massive spatial quakes. Little does Shido know, however, his life is about to take a sudden turn when he encounters the source of this destructive phenomenon—a girl his age, apparently known as a Spirit. Turns out, there are only two ways he can stop her from unleashing hell on the world: Eliminate her by force or placate her…by taking her out on a date and making her fall in love with him!
