The Journey of Demon Slayer So Far & What’s Next

Koyoharu Gotoge’s Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba manga was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from February 2016 to May 2020, ending with 23 volumes.

The anime adaptation by ufotable began in 2019 with a 26-episode first season, which quickly became a cultural phenomenon. This led to the record-breaking 2020 film, Infinity Train, which kickstarted the anime movie boom worldwide.

Subsequent seasons have maintained the hype throughout the years:

  • Season 2 (2021-2022) re-edited Mugen Train and introduced the Entertainment District Arc.
  • Season 3 (2023) covered the Swordsmith Village Arc.
  • Season 4 (2024) adapted the Hashira Training Arc, setting the stage for the final battle against Muzan and his strongest demons.

Now, the Infinity Castle Arc is being adapted into a movie trilogy, with the first installment set for 2025.

The fifth installment of the Demon Slayer stage play will also begin showing in Japan in April this year.
