The previously announced The Duke of Death and His Maid Season 2 revealed the first trailer and 2023 release date. Natsuki Hanae is returning to voice Duke, while Ayumi Mano is Alice.
The sequel was announced in September of 2021 after the first season finished airing. The sequel was revealed to be a TV anime in May of this year.
Yoshiki Yamakawa directed the first season at studio J.C. Staff. Hideki Shirane oversaw the series composition and Mitsuru Kuwabata designed the characters. Shogakukan Music & Digital Entertainment did the CGI. although J.C. Staff remains credited as the main studio.
The story is based on Koharu Inoue’s The Duke of Death and His Maid manga, which officially ended this year. The final, 17th volume, revealed a cover earlier this month and is set to publish on July 12 in Japan. The mang was serialized on Sunday Web Every platform, with Shogakukan publishing the volumes. Seven Seas Entertainment licensed it in English and describes the plot as:
When the duke was a young boy, a witch made it so that any living thing he touched died. Unable to cope with such a cursed child, his family sent him away to live in an old mansion. Now a young man, his only companions are an elderly butler and his childhood friend, a buxom, blonde maid named Alice. Despite the fact that touching the duke means instant death, Alice is constantly teasing him, getting close and flirting mercilessly. But even though Alice loves to make the duke blush, her affection for him is the real deal. Can the two figure out a way to break the witch’s spell?
