Funimation to add Bleach, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure (Parts 1-3), Accel World, and some more anime titles from VIZ Media! They will be available in the United States and Canada starting April 15, and here is the full list of new additions:
Bleach (2004)
One of the legendary old school Shonen anime, the first 109 episodes of Bleach will be available on Funimation in the US, while Canada will get 209. The synopsis:
Ichigo Kurosaki is a rather normal high school student apart from the fact he has the ability to see ghosts. This ability never impacted his life in a major way until the day he encounters the Shinigami Kuchiki Rukia, who saves him and his family’s lives from a Hollow, a corrupt spirit that devours human souls.
Wounded during the fight against the Hollow, Rukia chooses the only option available to defeat the monster and passes her Shinigami powers to Ichigo. Now forced to act as a substitute until Rukia recovers, Ichigo hunts down the Hollows that plague his town.
JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Parts 1-3 (2012)
Another iconic anime and meme treasure trove, Funimation will add the first 3 parts of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure in both the US and Canada (episodes 1-48). The synopsis for the first 2 parts:
Beginning its tale in 19th century England, young aristocrat Jonathan Joestar finds himself locked in bitter rivalry with Dio Brando, a low-born boy who Jonathan’s father took under his wing after the death of Dio’s father. Discontent with his station in life, Dio’s fathomless lust to reign over all eventually leads him to seek the supernatural powers of an ancient Aztec stone mask in the Joestar’s possession—an artifact that will forever change the destiny of Dio and Jonathan for generations to come.
Fifty years later, in 1938 New York City, Jonathan’s grandson Joseph Joestar must take up his grandfather’s mission and master the abilities necessary to destroy the stone mask and its immensely powerful creators who threaten humanity’s very existence, the Pillar Men.
After that, it’s Joseph’s son Jotaro’s turn, and the full synopsis for that goes:
In a Japanese jail sits 17-year-old Jotaro Kujo: punk, fighter, delinquent…and possessed by a force beyond his control! Around the world, evil spirits are awakening: “Stands,” monstrous invisible creatures which give their bearers incredible powers. To save his mother’s life, Jotaro must tame his dark forces and travel around the world to Cairo, Egypt, where a hundred-year-old vampire thirsts for the blood of his family. But the road is long, and an army of evil Stand Users waits to kill JoJo and his friends…
Accel World (2012)
From the creator of Sword Art Online, Reki Kawahara, Accel World is an interesting take on virtual reality gaming. Funimation will stream it in both the US and Canada, and the synopsis:
The year is 2046. Haruyuki Arita is a young boy who finds himself on the lowest social rungs of his school. Ashamed of his miserable life, Haruyuki can only cope by indulging in virtual games. But that all changes when Kuroyukihime, the most popular girl in school, introduces him to a mysterious program called Brain Burst and a virtual reality called the Accel World.

Kurapika became a Hunter to take vengeance on the Class-A crime group Phantom Troupe who massacred his clan for their unique eyes. The eyes of the Kurta clan turn scarlet in times of anger or emotional agitation and are considered the most beautiful treasures in the world. Kurapika continues to pursue the Phantom Troupe but an unknown party has stolen his “scarlet eyes”. With the help of Gon, Killua and Leorio, Kurapika’ s life was saved. However, the Phantom Troupe shows up before them and blocks their way. The true identity of the one with the No.4 spider tattoo is about to be unveiled.
Vampire Knight (2008)
An old-school vampire anime, Funimation will stream Vampire Knight in both the US and Canada:
Cross Academy is a school with a difference: in a unique and experimental setup designed by the headmaster, it has a Day Class consisting of ordinary humans and a Night Class filled with vampires. Yuki Cross and her friend Zero Kiryu are school prefects whose job it is to make sure the secret of the Night Class is always safe; they patrol the school grounds at night and supervise the switchover of classes at dawn and dusk to prevent any ‘accidents’ from happening. While Zero is suspicious of vampires and hates the idea of sharing the same space as them, Yuki admires the Night Class for their beauty and sophistication; she is especially intrigued by their charming leader, Kaname, because he once saved her life. However, as Yuki quickly learns, not all vampires are amiable like the Night Class, and as terrible events unfold, Yuki must ask herself whether in a world where vampires are the hunters and humans are the prey, peaceful coexistence can really be achieved.
Vampire Knight: Guilty (2008)
A direct continuation to the first season, its synopsis:
Having recovered from the injuries he had sustained, Zero returns to Cross Academy to resume his role as prefect. Though, not long after he resumes his role, members of the Supreme Vampire Council ambush Zero with the intent to execute him for the murder of the pureblood, Shizuka. Luckily when Kaname intervenes, he sends the council away and insists that they stay out of school affairs. However, whilst Kaname continues to hide the truth about Shizuka’s death, there are others who grow suspicious of what happened that night and what the dorm president is hiding. Meanwhile, Yuuki begins to have flashbacks, leading her to investigate her blood-stained past: what will she find, and will she continue to be tempted by an offer from Kaname?
Infini-T Force (2017)
A full 3DCG anime project to celebrate the 55th anniversary of Tatsunoko Productions. The anime has a different story from the original manga. Funimation will stream Infini-T Force in both the US and Canada, and the synopsis for it:
Seventeen-year-old Emi Kaido hasn’t seen her father in ten years. She lives alone and feels increasingly disaffected, challenging the world to kill her and feeling empty when her daredevil behavior doesn’t “pay off”. All of that is about to change when she meets four heroes from alternate earths. When their worlds were eliminated by an evil man known only as “Z”, they instead came to Emi’s, and together they determine to stop the destruction.
Mazinger Z: Infinity (2018)
A feature film sequel to the Mazinger Z and Great Mazinger manga and anime series. Funimation will stream Mazinger Z: Infinity in both the US and Canada, and the synopsis:

Kouji Kabuto, his Mazinger Z super robot, and his friends at the photon power laboratory put an end to Dr. Hell’s evil ambitions, and returned peace to the world. It has been 10 years since then. Kouji has followed his father and grandfather and now walks the path of a scientist. He encounters a mysterious life form buried in a giant structure buried deep below Mt. Fuji. A new encounter, a new threat, and a new fate await humanity. And Kouji, who was once a hero, makes a decision for the future. It can be a god or a demon. Once again the future is entrusted to Mazinger Z.
