Grand Blue Season 3 revealed a new key visual and the opening song artist ahead of the show’s July 2026 release date. The season will be set in Palau, meaning it will travel overseas for the first time. Shinji Takamatsu is back to direct Season 3 at studios ZERO-G and Liber.
The opening song will be “Natsuko” by FUNKY MONKEY BΛBY’S. The new visual was revealed on May 24, which is recognized as “Scuba Diving Day” in Japan because 5 (Go) 2 (To) 4 (Sea) sounds like “Go to Sea!” in Japanese wordplay. You can see the new visual below.
The anime previously revealed additional voice cast, including:
- Sayaka Ohara as Sayaka Kotegawa
- Asami Seto as Chief
- Aya Suzaki as Maki
The anime returned with Season 2 over 6 years after the ending of Season 1. The returning voice cast included Yuma Uchida (Iori Kitahara), Ryohei Kimura (Kohei Imamura), Chika Anzai (Chisa Kotegawa), and others reprising their roles.
Shinji Takamatsu returned as director, scriptwriter, and sound director, with Hideoki Kusama handling character design alongside chief animation director Yoichi Ueda. Studios ZERO-G and Liber are in charge of the animation, with Reiko Kasuga overseeing the art direction and Yukari Hashimoto composing the music. Season 3 was announced immediately after the finale.
Grand Blue Dreaming (commonly known as Grand Blue) is a manga series created by writer Kenji Inoue and illustrator Kimitake Yoshioka. It began serialization in Kodansha’s Good! Afternoon magazine in April 2014. The series received a television anime adaptation by Zero-G, which aired from July to September 2018, and was later adapted into a live-action film released in August 2020.
Kodansha also publishes the manga in English. The story follows Iori Kitahara, who moves to a coastal town after finishing high school and starts working at his uncle’s diving shop. Along the way, he becomes involved in both scuba diving and the unexpected, alcohol-filled college life, forming friendships in an extremely chaotic enviornment.
