Written by Ken Pueyo

The previously announced Hana-Kimi anime revealed a new key visual and January 2026 release date, along with announcing YOASOBI as the theme songs’ artist. The announcement was made during Aniplex Online Fest 2025 event, with YOASOBI set to perform both the opening and ending song.

Natsuki Takemura is directing the anime at Signal.MD, and Shigeru Ueda is the assistant director. Takao Yoshioka is in charge of series scripts, Shi Yi Su is designing the characters, Masaru Yokoyama is composing the music.

The anime is based on a manga by Hisaya Nakajo. It was serialized in Japan in Hakusensha’s semi-monthly shōjo manga magazine Hana to Yume. VIZ Media publishes the manga in English:
Japanese-American track-and-field star Mizuki has gotten herself to transfer to a high school in Japan…but not just any school! To be close to her idol, high jumper Izumi Sano, she’s going to an all-guys’ high school…and disguising herself as a boy! But as fate would have it, they’re more than classmates…they’re roommates! Now, Mizuki must keep her secret in the classroom, the locker room, and her own bedroom. And her classmates–and the school nurse–must cope with a new transfer student who may make them question their own orientation…

I can talk about seiyuus for days and a connoisseur of cute girls doing cute things. Fluffy romance and girls coming of age stories always make me smile. I mostly watch slice-of-life and rom-coms with drama on the side. A firm believer of the girls' band era.
