The author of the Hunter x Hunter manga, Yoshihiro Togashi, hinted at ending the nearly 4 year-long hiatus with four new manga chapters on his newly made Twitter account. He posted a photo of a sketch along with “4 new chapters for the time being” caption:
The illustrator for the One-Punch Man manga, Yusuke Murata confirmed that the Twitter account in question is indeed Togashi’s, and Tomoki Izumi, the author of Mieruko-chan also retweeted Murata’s tweet. Murata stated that the account was the “man himself”:
Voice actress Megumi Han, who voiced Gon in the 2011 anime adaptation, expressed her excitement with the news, questioning with a question of what do 4 chapters mean. Mariya Ise, who voiced Killua, also tweeted marking the news.
Shueisha began the serialization of Yoshihiro Togashi’s Hunter x Hunter manga series in 1998, and it currently has 36 volumes out. The manga has been on hiatus since November 2018 because of Togashi’s health issues. This is not the first hiatus it’s been on, as the frequent breaks led the fandom to dub the series Haitus x Hiatus.
The manga received two anime adaptations. The first, by Nippon Animation, aired from 1999 to 2001. Studio MADHOUSE animated a reboot from 2011 to 2014, which covered more chapters than the original. Viz Media is publishing the Hunter x Hunter manga series in English:
Gon might be a country boy, but he has high aspirations. Despite his Aunt Mito’s protests, Gon decides to follow in his father’s footsteps and become a legendary Hunter. The Hunter hopefuls begin their journey by storm-tossed ship, where Gon meets Leorio and Kurapika, the only other applicants who aren’t devastated by bouts of seasickness.
Having survived the terrors of the high seas, Gon and his companions now have to prove their worth in a variety of tests in order to find the elusive Exam Hall. And once they get there, will they ever leave alive…?
