Although Berserk fans have gotten an incredible number of 3 chapters last year and 2 the year before, some aren’t as lucky. For one, Hunter x Hunter fans are definitely not eating that good as the manga hiatus has reached 100 consecutive issues with the release of the 7th Weekly Shonen Jump Issue of 2021. The last chapter released over 780 days ago in November 2018, and fans have been on a cliffhanger ever since. Still, health comes first, so we can only hope that Yoshihiro Togashi-sensei will get better soon.
Yoshihiro Togashi wrote and illustrated Hunter x Hunter. It was first serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump in March 1998. Still, the frequent hiatuses have slowed it down a lot. It’s currently at 390 chapters and 36 volumes released. Togashi-sensei also wrote Yu Yu Hakusho, and he married Naoko Takeuchi, the author of Sailor Moon back in 1999. You can read the manga for free on the MANGA Plus website too!
You can read the synopsis of Hunter x Hunter below:
Drawn to the mystique of the unknown, Hunters travel the world in search of terrifying creatures, incredible riches, and unexplored lands. Gon Freecss is a naive-yet-determined young boy who aspires to join the ranks of these individuals, in order to find his missing father Ging – a master of the profession himself. To reach his goal, he partakes in the formidable Hunter Exam. A series of tests that push the participants to their physical and mental limits, with a Hunter License as the prize. During the exam, Gon befriends vengeful Kurapika, doctor-to-be Leorio, and skilled assassin Killua, who have entered for their own reasons. But with the sinister Hisoka standing in their way, will Gon and his friends be able to succeed in obtaining their reward, or even escaping with their lives?
It’s a great anime and I definitely suggest watching it. However, you might end up reading the manga afterwards and then waiting indefinitely for more. Nobody knows when Hunter x Hunter will resume, but hopefully the hiatus doesn’t go far above the 100 consecutive issues…
