Jellyfish Can’t Swim in the Night anime revealed a new visual earlier today following the broadcast of episode 8. Studio Doga Kobo is animating the original series which premiered in April of this year.
JELEE is credited for the original work on the Jellyfish Can’t Swim in the Night. Ryohei Takeshita (Ero-manga Sensei) is directing, while Yuki Yaku (Bottom-Tier Character Tomozaki author) is overseeing the series composition and writing the screenplay. Popman3580 created the original character designs, with Junichiro Taniguchi who tweaked them for the anime version. The main cast includes:
- Miku Ito as Mahiru Kozuki
- Miyuri Shimabukuro as Mei “Kim Anouk” Takanashi
- Miyu Tomita as Kiwi Watase
- Rie Takahashi as Kano Yamanouchi
The anime project marks Doga Kobo’s 50th anniversary. HIDIVE is streaming it and describes the plot as:
Shibuya is a city full of identity. It is here on Shibuya’s late night streets that illustrator Mahiru Kozuki, former idol Kano Yamanouchi, Vtuber Kiui Watase and composer Mei Kim Anouk Takanashi — four young women who are slightly outside the world — join together and form an anonymous artist group called JELEE. “I” also want to shine like someone else. If it’s not me but “we” then we might be able to shine.
The manga adaptation of Jellyfish Can’t Swim in the Night is being serialized on Kodansha’s Magazine Pocket manga app concurrently with the anime series.
