Kaminaki Sekai no Kamisama Katsudo anime – Key Visual

Kaminaki Sekai no Kamisama Katsudo (What God Does in a World Without Gods) is based on a manga series written by Aoi Akashiro and illustrated by Sonsho Hangetsuban. It was first serialized on Hero’s Inc.’s Monthly Hero’s from May 2019 to October 2020 and then transferred to Comiplex in November 2020.

The story follows the story of Masato Urabe, the son of a mysterious cult leader. Masato passes away following a cult ceremony. He gets reincarnated and finds that the god they worship–Mitama–was also transported into the new world with him. However, the world they are in now doesn’t believe in religion and the two must come up with ways to build their following.

It also received a manga spin-off series titled Kaminaki Sekai no Onee-chan Katsudo, written by Shinya Murata and illustrated by Tokisada Hayami. The manga began serialization on Comiplex’s website in November 2022.
