As part of its tradition of commemorating character birthdays, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba has marked the birthday of Kanao Tsuyuri on May 19, 2025, with a special illustration by studio ufotable. The studio recently revealed an illustration for Kyojuro Rengoku, while they’re also known for commemorating other important dates like Christmas, New Year, or Valentine’s Day.

Kanao Tsuyuri, first introduced as the quiet but strong member of the Demon Slayer Corps, while she slowly became an important ally to Tanjiro and friends. You can see her adorable birthday illustration below.
Demon Slayer Background
The Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba manga, written and illustrated by Koyoharu Gotoge, was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from February 2016 to May 2020, concluding with 23 volumes. The series quickly became a global phenomenon.
Its anime adaptation by ufotable began in April 2019 with a 26-episode first season, followed by the record-breaking film Mugen Train in 2020. The film not only dominated Japanese box offices but also sparked a renewed interest in theatrical anime worldwide. Currently, Mugen Train is being re-screened in Japan, with North American revival screenings having begun on May 14.
The other seasons of the anime aired as follows:
- Season 2: October 2021 – February 2022 (includes re-edited Mugen Train arc)
- Season 3: April – June 2023
- Season 4: May – June 2024
Ongoing and Upcoming Demon Slayer Projects
Along with the Mugen Train revival screenings, a new trailer for the upcoming Infinity Castle movie trilogy premiered on May 9, 2025, exclusively in theaters. This trailer is also being shown in the North American revival screenings.
The Infinity Castle arc is being adapted into a three-part movie series. The first installment is scheduled to premiere in Japan on July 18, 2025, with international release dates set between August and September.
Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Countdown Project
Leading up to the movie’s release, the franchise launched the Infinity Castle Countdown Project, featuring visuals of the main characters. Kanao Tsuyuri was highlighted at 89 days until premiere.

In addition to the anime developments, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Hinokami Chronicles 2, the sequel to the first console fighting game, is currently in production. The game is slated for release on August 1, 2025.
