Kanaria, a popular Japanese musician known for their Vocaloid tracks, has officially debuted their official VTuber model. They first teased the model on August 23, with the first stream showcasing it would be happening on the next day. You can check their VTuber debut stream below:
Apart from this debut, Kanaria also recently released a new track titled “NeverFiction,” with vocals by Hololive talent Hoshimachi Suisei. Kanaria’s VTuber model is designed by LAM, a popular illustrator who has designed multiple VTuber models including Nijisanji’s Kuzuha and Vox Akuma, Hololive’s Kureiji Ollie, and independent VTuber Kujo Ringo.
Kanaria rose to popularity with their track “King,” which was released in August 2020 and is one of the most popular tracks VTubers cover. They have also released two albums King (2020) and Kanaria.code (2022). In November 2022, they released “Dainoteki-na Rendezvous,” which was used as the ending theme for Chainsaw Man‘s sixth episode “Denji Kills.” Kanaria also wrote the “Champion” track, the last song for Pokémon and Hatsune Miku’s Project Voltage collaboration.
Multiple Japanese personalities have made their venture into debuting their own VTuber models. Japanese mangaka Bkub Okawa, known for his Pop Team Epic series, debuted his VTuber model on June 21, 2022. Multiple voice actors have also ventured into VTubing. In 2021, Magic Knight Rayearth voice actress Hekiru Shiina debuted her VTuber model named Hekiru Shiina. Mayu Iizuka, who has voiced Airi Eniwa in CUE!, revealed that she was the VTuber Yume Kotobuki and has been doing it for three years. Shu Uchida revealed her own VTuber model in February 2023.
