The upcoming Pon no Michi mahjong anime released a new character trailer for Pai Kawahigashi (voiced by Iori Saeki). The trailer follows one for Nashiko, which debuted alongside a key visual of the main cast. Studio OLM will animate the series. Watch the new character trailer below:
As previously announced, Pai’s voice actor, Iori Saeki, is joined by Kaori Maeda who voices Nashiko Jippensha, Shion Wakayama (Izumi Tokutomi), Yui Kondo (Riche Hayashi), Akio Otsuka (Chonbo), and Hibiku Yamamura (Haneru Emi). Tatsuma Minamikawa (Fire Force Season 2) will direct the anime, while The Quintessential Quintuplets creator Negi Haruba will provide original character designs. Kenji Ota is adapting those character designs for the anime. The full staff list can be found here.
Pon no Michi was announced in May 2023 and will premiere in January 2024. Prior to the release of the anime, a manga began publication in Kodansha’s Nakayoshi magazine in September. The former idol and professional mahjong player Kana Nakada will perform the opening theme song “Ponpopopon” alongside the anime cast, known as the Pon no Michi All Stars. Set in the picturesque streets, historic shrines and temples, beautiful sea, and rich nature of Onomichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture, the characters’ slow but sparkling days begin.
