Buncololi and Kantoku’s light novel Sasaki and Peeps (Sasaki to Pi-chan) is receiving a TV anime adaptation. The adaptation was announced on July 24 at MF Bunko J’s Summer School Festival event. An announcement trailer has been revealed:
The official Twitter account of the series posted a commemorative visual for the anime adaptation along with cast information: Tomokazu Sugita known for his role as Gintoki Sakata (the Gintama series) is voicing the protagonist Sasaki, while Aoi Yuki who played Tanya von Degurechaff (The Saga of Tanya the Evil) is playing the role of the bird Peeps. The voice actors have played the characters in commercial and trailer videos for the series.
Sasaki to Pi-chan‘s author Buncololi quote-tweeted the tweet above: “Sasaki and Peeps” is now receiving an anime adaptation! It’s all thanks to everyone who has been supporting the series. Let me express my sincere appreciation. I already look forward to seeing the characters designed by Kantoku-sensei moving around in the new format, video. I would appreciate it if every one of the readers could pay attention to the broadcast with anticipation.
The illustrator Kantoku also expressed his excitement briefly: “Sasaki and Peeps” is receiving a TV anime adaptation! Yay!” Pureji Osho, the artist of the manga adaptation, sent a congratulatory message: “Sasaki and Peeps is receiving a TV anime adaptation! Congratulations, Buncololi-sensei and Kantoku-sensei!!“
Buncololi, who has been running light novels Tanaka -Nenrei Equal Kanojo Inaireki no Mahotsukai- and Nishino -Gakunai Caste Saikai Ni Shite Ino Sekai Saikyo No Shonen- writes the story, while Kantoku, who is known for his ilustration of The Hentai Prince and the Stony Cat and A Sister’s All You Need light novels, draws the art for Sasaki to Pi-chan. The work released the newest volume, Volume 5 in May 2022. Pureji Osho has been drawing the manga adaptation and it released the second volume in June 2022.
Yen Press licensed the light novel for English releases and describes the plot of Volume 1 as:
Tired and unfulfilled by his dead-end job, Sasaki decides to adopt Peeps, an adorable pet Java sparrow. Peeps, however, is really Piercarlo, a powerful sage from another world! After Peeps bestows Sasaki with magic and the ability to cross worlds, the two decide to export household items for profit in pursuit of a leisurely lifestyle. But when Sasaki’s new magic gets him mixed up in a whole other kind of supernatural struggle back in Japan, will it destroy his chances at realizing the relaxing life of his dreams?
