Love Live Nijigasaki School Idol Club revealed a trailer for the upcoming OVA titled Nijigasaki High School Idol Club Next Sky and Setsuna Yuki’s newest voice actress. Koko Hayashi will be replacing Tomori Kusunoki as Setsuna Yuuki/Nana Nakagawa after Tomori Kusunoki stepped down from the role due to health issues. The OVA will premiere on June 23 in Japanese theaters.
Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club is a spin-off project of Love Live! idol franchise. The first season premiered in October 2020 while the second season began airing in April 2022. Studio Sunrise animated both seasons with Tomoyuki Kawamura as the director. Jin Tanaka wrote the scripts while Takumi Yokota illustrated character designs.
Crunchyroll is streaming the first and second seasons of Love Live Nijigasaki School Idol Club anime and they describe it as:
Nijigasaki High School is known for their diverse subjects and the freedom they give to students. Second-year student Yu Takasaki has been turned on to the charms of school idols, so she knocks on the door of the School Idol Club with her friend, Ayumu Uehara. Sometimes friends, sometimes rivals, the members of this club each contribute their own thoughts and motivations to the group.
The plot of the OVA follows the 13 members of the Nijigasaki School Idol Club after Shioriko, Mia, and Lanzhu join them. The 2nd School Idol Festival is underway which involves other schools, and the first live performance of the club. Ayumu then returns home from London after a two-week short-term study abroad program with Ira, a short-term exchange student who is yearning to become a school idol. Shioriko and the other members of the club plan a school idol experience project to support her dream.
