Hazuki Takeoka wrote the original Masamume-kun’s Revenge manga, with illustrations by Tiv. It was serialized by Ichijinsha from October 2012 to June 2018, while Seven Seas Entertainment licensed it in English. The first TV anime adaptation ran in the Winter 2017 anime season, and it had a total of 12 episodes. Studio Silver Link was in charge of the production, with Mirai Minato as director. The series also released an OVA in July 2018. Crunchyroll streams the anime, and they describe the story:
“I’ve returned to this town for revenge!” Eight years ago, Makabe Masamune, a weak and chubby boy, was harshly rejected by the beautiful Adagaki Aki. Now, he’s lost a ton of weight, changed his name, and returned as a handsome teenage boy… all to make the “Brutal Princess” Aki fall in love with him so that he can reject her just as harshly as she did.
