The Medalist TV anime adaptation has revealed the second trailer and a new visual, along with additional cast members. Studio ENGI is in charge of the animation, with Yasutaka Yamamoto as the director. The anime will premiere in January 2025, and you can watch the new trailer below.
The new Medalist anime voice cast includes:
- Makoto Koichi as Rio Sonidori
- Hina Kino as Ryoka Miketa
- Megumi Toda as Mario Nachi
- Kotori Koiwai as Ema Yamato
- Takahiro Miyake as Yudai Jakuzure
The new visual features Ryoka and her coach Mario. Ryoka is a rival to the main character, Inori Yuitsuka. Previously, another one of her rivals, Hikaru Kamisaki, was featured along with her coach.
Chinatsu Kameyama is the character designer for the anime, with Jukki Hanada in charge of the series composition and screenplay.
Medalist is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Tsurumaikada. It has been serialized in Kodansha’s Monthly Afternoon since May 2020. The manga won at the 68th Shogakukan Manga Award for the general category. Kodansha licensed it in English, and they’ve been releasing it since May 2021. They describe the story:
Tsukasa, whose dreams were crushed. Inori, left to fend for herself. These two share a dream…and their tenacity may be the only thing that sees them through. Their destination? The ice…on the world’s stage!
