Episode 1 of the much-awaited anime, Mieruko-chan, finally aired. The show is a mix of comedy and horror. What’s more, some shots of the protagonist, such as her encounters with the ghosts, were really impressive. A bit unexpected in this kind of anime are some angle shots that give fan service to the viewers. Another thing that is worth mentioning is that the anime’s opening and ending songs, in my opinion, were really cute.
You can watch the songs below:
Of course, the events in the first episode of the anime were also hilarious, and I’m here to talk about them.
Warning: This Section Might Contain Spoilers
Miko
First things first, Episode 1 of Mieruko-chan introduced the protagonist of the series, Miko. She appears as a phlegmatic person. However, the first episode proved me wrong. She is also a good-looking girl that is very cute especially when she is scared.
Hana
Hana was the other character that was introduced in the first episode. She is Miko’s friend, and one of the three main characters of the series. Hana is a happy-go-lucky high school girl. She usually bumps into Miko every morning at school. Miko can tell that the person that’s bumping into her is Hana thanks to the “squish” sensation. She doesn’t even need to look at her.
Ghost Encounters
Miko finds herself in the middle of heavy rain after she came out of school at night. Since she doesn’t have an umbrella, she is soaking wet as she goes towards the bus stop. However, unusual things happened while Miko was using her phone. She suddenly saw a huge ghost, that was asking her if she can see it, in front of her.
Instead of being scared, the design of the ghost made me laugh really hard. Furthermore, the voice of the ghost was cute, and it didn’t try to scare Miko or the viewers of the show. I also found it amusing that Miko tried to ignore it until the ghost left her. However, her hands were really trembling while holding to her skirt, which made the scene even funnier. When the ghost left Miko, she showed her scared facial expression, which was really adorable.
Second Ghost Encounter
Miko finally arrives at her house after that terrifying experience. While she was brushing her teeth she was thinking of the unpleasant event that took place at the bus station. There, while looking at the mirror, she suddenly saw a different ghost asking the same question that the first ghost asked her. Miko tried to tell herself that it’s only her imagination, but when she looked at the mirror again, the ghost was still there. Of course, she ignored the ghost again.
The ghost in this scene was also pretty funny. It stretched its neck from Miko’s left side to her right side while turning its head upside-down. Miko’s reaction in this scene was also funny, especially when she said tried to cope with what was happening.
More Encounters
Before sleeping, Miko also sees a ghost under her blanket. This time the ghost was calling her “Mama”. Miko, yet again, started ignoring the ghost, and I couldn’t help but laugh at it. Miko really captivated me in this scene because she blushed and almost started crying, which I find really appealing.
The next day, Hana finally scared Miko when bumping into her. Maybe it is because of the unpleasant events that she had to go through the day previous. While the two of them were talking to each other, Miko saw another ghost in front of her. This time the ghost greeted Miko and called her a “Sensei”. The episode ends showing us a teary-eyed Miko.
The anime already captivated me during its first episode and I’m looking forward to what will happen next. The show was really interesting and the fact that Miko can see ghosts piqued my curiosity. I wonder why she can see those things. Well, if you are also curious, episode 2 of the anime will air on October 10, 2021, and you can watch it on Funimation.
Lastly, if you also learned how to deal with ghosts by watching episode 1 of Mieruko-chan, you can also vote for the anime on our weekly poll.
Mieruko-chan Synopsis
A normal girl was living a normal life until she wasn’t.
Yen Press
One day, she could see…everything. What’s a girl to do when hideous monsters appear no matter which way she turns?
And on top of that, nobody else can see them!
Obviously, there’s only one thing that makes sense-ignore them.
It’s kinda hard to put theory into practice, though, when the ghosts know she’s watching…
