Parrot Analytics’ data collection window for TV series was from January 1 to December 31, 2024. Only series that debuted in the 2024 calendar year or received new episodes counted. The nominees were released in December.

Parrot Analytics calculates demand through video consumption (streaming and downloads) data and behavior on “search engines, wikis and informational sites, fan and critic rating sites, social video sites, blogs and micro-blogging sites, social media platforms, peer-to-peer apps and open streaming platforms.” It also includes research actions (reading about shows, writing about movies, etc.), and weights for things like time and consumer effort required to take certain actions. You can read more about it here.

My Hero Academia‘s win, while surprising given its competition, was predictable given its performance as it aired. In Parrot Analytics’ U.S.-only list of the most in-demand series of any medium in Summer 2024, My Hero Academia ranked an impressive sixth, just behind The Boys and Saturday Night Live, and ahead of titles like SpongeBob Squarepants, The Simpsons, The Daily Show, and Sesame Street. It was also the highest-ranked anime in Q1 and Q2 2024.

While drowned out by the winners, Kaiju No. 8 also had an impressive 2024. The series was nominated for 2024’s most in-demand horror series alongside American Horror Story, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, and the eventual winner, From.

My Hero Academia Draws Level With Attack on Titan as a Two-Time Most In-Demand Anime Series

As 2024’s most in-demand anime, My Hero Academia‘s previous win in 2020 takes it level with fellow two-time winner Attack on Titan (2021, 2022). Jujutsu Kaisen lay claim to 2023’s edition. My Hero Academia, Solo Leveling, and One Piece will all likely be contenders again for 2025; One Piece returns in April while My Hero Academia‘s eighth and final season premieres in the fall. Demon Slayer will return as a movie, with German theater chain CineStar listing Infinity Castle‘s release date as September 25, 2025.

Crunchyroll streams 2024’s most in-demand anime series, My Hero Academia. It’s officially described:
Izuku has dreamt of being a hero all his life—a lofty goal for anyone, but especially challenging for a kid with no superpowers. That’s right, in a world where eighty percent of the population has some kind of super-powered “quirk,” Izuku was unlucky enough to be born completely normal. But that’s not enough to stop him from enrolling in one of the world’s most prestigious hero academies.
