The My Hero Academia live-action movie remains in development, with The Hollywood Reporter revealing that Netflix is now backing the project in addition to the previously announced Legendary. Ice Age: Continental Drift and Argylle writer Jason Fuchs was revealed as scriptwriter, with Shinsuke Sato (Bleach live-action, Kingdom live-action) still attached to the film as director.
Legendary is also co-producing the Gundam live-action, while Netflix will stream the Solo Leveling live-action. The My Hero Academia live-action film adapts Kohei Horikoshi’s manga of the same name, published in Weekly Shonen Jump. The first volume is described:
Middle school student Izuku Midoriya wants to be a hero more than anything, but he hasn’t got an ounce of power in him. With no chance of ever getting into the prestigious U.A. High School for budding heroes, his life is looking more and more like a dead end. Then an encounter with All Might, the greatest hero of them all, gives him a chance to change his destiny…
