The Touken Ranbu Kai -Kyoden Moyuru Honnouji- is scheduled to premiere in April 2024, as announced with a key visual and trailer. The anime is based on the 2016 stage play adaptation called Touken Ranbu: Kyouden Moyuru Honnouji. It will star six characters from the franchise: Mikazuki Munechika, Yamanbagiri Kunihiro, Souza Samonji, Yamanbagiri Kunihiro, Yagen Toushirou, Heshikiri Hasebe, and Fudou Yukimitsu.
The series is directed by Aya Ichikawa with Mari Takada in charge of the character designs. domerica studio (Seven Knights Revolution: Hero Successor) will be animating. The series composition is written by Kenichi Suemitsu, who was also the original script writer for the 2016 Touken Ranbu stage play.
The voice actors who voice the characters from the original Touken Ranbu browser game will be reprising their roles for this series:

Touken Ranbu is a franchise that first started as an online web browser game Touken Ranbu Online. The game was created by DMM and Nitroplus and was launched in 2015. The game has inspired several anime, musical, and stage play adaptations and a console game. In the game, players play as a Saniwa sage who travels back in time to defeat the evil forces trying to change history. To fight these evil forces, the Saniwa sage has the ability to bring famous, historical swords to life as a Touken Danshi. Players get to summon personified historical swords, create an army, and fight off the evil forces trying to change history. There are currently over 200 Touken Danshi that players can summon in the game.
