NIPPON SANGOKU Sequel Anime Announced

NIPPON SANGOKU sequel anime has been officially announced two months after the first season’s finale released on June 21. Studio Kafka was in charge of the animation, while the anime was co-produced with Amazon MGM Studios and is available for streaming on Prime Video. Today’s announcement was made on September 3, following an earlier teaser on the official X account.

Original manga creator Ikka Matsuki shared a comment following the sequel announcement:

“I am truly delighted that a sequel to the Nippon Sangoku anime is being produced.

The spark quietly lit in the first series will eventually become a flame that scorches the era, greatly shaking the destinies of its people.

I wonder what kind of scenery the history written in the original work will depict when given interpretations and expressions unique to animation.

As the original creator, I too look forward to seeing where it goes as one of its viewers.”

• Megumi Han as Narrator

NIPPON SANGOKU (meaning “Japan: Three Kingdoms”) is a manga series written and drawn by Ikka Matsuki. The series started publication in November 2021 through Shogakukan’s Ura Sunday platform and the MangaONE app. The official introduction:
