ONE PIECE live-action season 2 has cast Sendhil Ramamurthy for King Cobra Nefertari. This is the second announcement of new cast members, following yesterday’s reveal of doctors Kureha and Hiriluk. Sendhil is most known for his roles as Mohinder Suresh in Heroes, Gabriel “Gabe” Lowan in Beauty and the Beast, and Jai Wilcox in Covert Affairs.
Netflix describes the character: In the heart of The Desert Kingdom of Alabasta, where rebellion stirs and secrets are buried, stands a King like no other. Introducing Nefertari Cobra, the pillar of integrity in a kingdom at crossroads.
Eiichiro Oda’s latest message teased 3 days of cast announcements, with this being the second one. T upcoming season will cover Loguetown, Reverse Mountain (Twin Cape), Whiskey Peak, Little Garden, and Drum Island.
The live-action series has Matt Owens (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Luke Cage) and Steven Maeda (The X-Files, CSI: Miami, Lost) serving as writers, executive producers, and showrunners. The creator, Eiichiro Oda, is also among the show’s executive producers. The first season made its debut on August 31, and it topped Netflix’s global English TV Ranking with 18.5 million total views, 140.1 million hours viewed and an average runtime of 7:34 hours. It kept its top spot in the 2nd week as well, marking a huge success for the adaptation. The producers previously said that the sequel’s production could last between 12 to 18 months after the SAG-AFTRA strike ended. The strike ended on November 9, 2023.
The ONE PIECE manga is written and drawn by Eiichiro Oda. It currently has 1122 chapters, while the anime adaptation is at 1116 episodes. VIZ Media licensed the manga in English, and Crunchyroll streams the anime. They describe the story:
