Rock band ELLEGARDEN has been selected to perform the new opening theme for the ONE PIECE anime. The song, titled “Carmine,” will debut during the episode airing on August 10 at 23:15 JST, and will be released digitally the same night at 23:45. This will be accompanied by the new ending theme song, which will debut on the same day and be performed by CHAMELEON LIME WHOOPIEPIE.
“Carmine” will be ONE PIECE’s 28th opening, coming after “Tenshi to Akuma” (“Angel and Devil”) by GRe4N BOYZ. The band’s vocalist and guitarist Takeshi Hosomi accepted the offer after being approached as a longtime fan of the series. According to the announcement, this marks the first time Hosomi has written a song specifically for an anime.
You can hear a preview of the song in the trailer below.
