One Punch Man was created by ONE and was originally published as a webcomic in 2009. A digital manga remake by Yusuke Murata began on Shueisha’s Tonari no Young Jump website in June 2012. Viz Media licensed the new manga in English, serializing it in Weekly Shonen Jump.

Studio MADHOUSE animated the first season, with Shingo Natsume as the director. It was released from October to December 2015 and was widely regarded as an outstanding adaptation. Studio J.C. Staff then took over for Season 2, which was directed by Chikara Sakurai and aired from April to July 2019. The 3rd season was announced in August last year, while they confirmed a 2025 release today as the first ‘punch.’ Crunchyroll streams the anime in Europe.

The story follows Saitama, a man who became a hero for fun. He had his famous daily training regime for 3 years (100 pushups, 100 squats, 100 situps, 10km run), which got him so overpowered that he could take any opponent down with a single punch. Besides all the major villains or evildoers, Saitama also meets a bunch of quirky heroes from the Hero Association and is constantly getting underestimated while being the one to protect humanity. The third season will focus on the ‘Hero Hunter’ Garo.
