One Punch Man manga illustrator Yusuke Murata’s son placed 2nd in a national high school bodybuilding contest in Japan. This is the equivalent of all the ‘koshien’ (nationals) sports anime protagonists usually strive for, and it gathered contestants from all over the country in Tokyo to compete. He competed in the 170cm and below category.
The famous artist and animator proudly posted this on his X account, sharing that his eldest son was the runner-up and thanking everyone for the support.
His son also shared the achievement on his own personal X account. He wrote that it’s disappointing, but that he will keep working hard. In his bio, he shares his love for illustrations and muscles, as well as his goal of reaching 10,000 followers. He competed in the 170cm and below category.
He also shared a video where he makes several poses with the One Punch Man theme song “THE HERO” playing in the background.
Yusuke Murata revealed that he had a son in 2014, sharing an illustration by the then 7-year old. He also shared an illustration of his younger daughter in March 2020, who was 10 years old at the time. He shared some additional illustrations she drew for Toilet-bound Hanako-kun as well.
Yusuke Murata is already legendary for his work on the One Punch Man and Eyeshield 21 (for which he recently animated a trailer), among his many other contributions to the industry.
One Punch Man currently has its 3rd season in production.
